The Kolkhos is the agricultural collective that controls much of Suburba's food production, tending its fungal beds, hydroponics, aquaculture and protein vats.
Its farms are worked collectively; meals are commonly taken in enormous mess halls; children grow up surrounded by assemblies, work rotations, slogans, arguments, and revolutionary songs. There are elected committees but few permanent offices, and outsiders are frequently driven insane trying to determine who is actually part of the leadership and can negotiate with them.
There are few distinctions between farmer, technician and fighter; every member is expected to contribute according to their ability, and the collective takes care of its own in return. This extends to its defence. The Kolkhos maintains no separate professional security force; instead, able members serve periodic militia rotations, with experienced and able members responsible for training, weapons stores and coordinating a response when necessary. An alarm can turn an ordinary shift of farmers into an organized armed force within minutes. The Kolkhos rarely seeks influence beyond its own territory, but its control over a substantial part of Suburba's food supply means that neither the Coterie nor its neighbors can afford to treat the collective as harmless.
