Help and rules

The Agora is an OOC community space for Underspire. Use it to talk about the game, share ideas, ask questions, discuss mechanics and lore, post creative work, and generally spend time with the people you play the game with. The full Code of Conduct applies here at all times.

• Be decent to each other. Disagreement is fine. Criticism is fine. Being hostile, insulting people personally, dogpiling them, or trying to make someone feel unwelcome is not. Argue with the point, not the person. The fact that two characters hate each other has no bearing on how their players should treat one another.
• Keep IC and OOC separate. Do not use forum posts, screenshots, logs, Discord conversations, or anything else your character did not experience as IC knowledge. Likewise, do not drag an IC feud into the Agora to rally people against the player on the other side.
• Do not spoil ongoing roleplay. Talking about your adventures in broad terms is welcome. Posting the details of an IC scene, secret, plot, identity, or event that other characters could act on is not unless everyone involved is comfortable with it being public. When in doubt, wait.
• Respect privacy. Do not post another player's private messages, personal information, private logs, characters, or identities elsewhere without their permission. If something needs to be shown to staff as part of a report, send it privately instead.
• Don't use the Agora as a courtroom. If you have a conduct problem with another player, report it privately. Do not post accusation threads, evidence dumps, callouts, or invitations for the community to decide who is right. Discussion and criticism of game rules, moderation, and staff policy are welcome; public campaigns against individual players are not.
• Keep threads readable. Post in the right category, use a useful title, and try not to create another thread when one already exists for the same subject. A little derailment is normal conversation; if the new subject takes over, make a new thread. Do not spam, bump repeatedly, or flood several topics with the same post.
• Necromancy is fine when you have something to add. We would rather you revive an old useful discussion than create five copies of it. Do not resurrect ancient threads solely to say "same," make a joke, or restart a dispute that has been dead for months.
• Give criticism something to work with. "I don't like this" is allowed, but explaining why is much more useful. When giving feedback on someone else's work, remember there is a person on the other side of the screen. When asking for feedback, remember that disagreement is not hostility.
• Label difficult material. Underspire is an adult, dark setting, but the Agora is still a shared OOC space. Give people fair warning before discussing particularly heavy real-world subjects, and do not post real-world gore or shock material. Explicit IC material should likewise be clearly signposted rather than dropped into an ordinary thread without warning.
• Don't bring outside drama here. Other games, servers, communities and their drama do not need to become Underspire drama. Do not use the Agora to continue old feuds, distribute blacklists, recruit sides, or gossip about people from elsewhere.
• Staff may step in when a thread has run its course. We may split, move, lock, clean up, or redirect discussions when needed to keep the Agora usable. If staff ask everyone to drop a subject or move on, do so. You are still free to question or criticize the underlying decision through the appropriate channels.

This is a forum for adults, like the game. Nobody under 18 takes part, and adult forums need a signed-in, confirmed account. If a post breaks a rule, use Report on that post. A moderator reads every report. Posts from new members may be held until a moderator approves them.

Posts use tags in square brackets, called BBCode. The editor has a button for each one and a live preview.

Colours, sizes and fonts are not available. Links to other sites open in a new tab. Pictures are not stored here: your post links to the picture on its own site, and only an https address works. New members can use pictures once a moderator approves the post. You can turn pictures off for yourself in your settings.

On a thread: J and K move between posts, R replies, N and P turn pages, U goes to the first unread post. In the editor: Ctrl+B, I, U and K format, and Ctrl+Enter posts. You can turn the shortcuts off at the bottom of any page.
