The Cabiri are a loose fraternity of mechanics, fabricators, bodyworkers and rogue engineers who dominate Suburba’s mechanical level.
Where Vulcani venerates mastery and the perfection of their craft, the Cabiri hold that nothing possesses a final form: anything broken can be remade, anything obsolete can be given another life, and a thing’s purpose can always be changed as long as one has the skill -- the holy act of transformation itself.
Their workshops are equal parts garage and shrine, filled with cannibalized machinery and the dead components of past projects. Initiation is informal, secretive and distinctly cult-like, with individual masters passing down their own variations of Cabiri rites alongside practical knowledge.
That belief extends to their own flesh. The most devoted Cabiri modify themselves relentlessly, replacing healthy limbs, grafting on tools, reinforcing bone, splicing muscle and incorporating scavenged machinery simply to see what they can become. These Automachoi form the fraternity's muscle: grotesque chrome patchworks of mismatched prosthetics, exposed mechanisms and deliberately excessive bodywork, each effectively an ongoing project. Some are barely recognizable as human after decades of alteration. They guard Cabiri workshops, recover stolen property and deal with anyone foolish enough to interfere with the fraternity.
