There should probably be a notification typed out and confirmation asked for when someone types 'quit' in a public area that they'll be visible and asleep in the world, rather than disappearing into the background like some other games. This notification could be skipped in apartments or capsules, or written in such a way that makes sense regardless.
"This is a public area. Are you sure you want to fall asleep here?"
"Really quit? Logging out in public will leave you vulnerable."
