Mythos

The guild of bioengineering, gene-splicing, cyberware, and healthcare in general. Their patron is Saint Vael, famously known as the originator of medical care in Deshret.

Mythos owns your body. They heal, augment, splice, modify. Their position is simple: the human body is like a system as any other, and systems can be optimized endlessly. Where their medicine ends and playing god begins is a line Mythos and Sepulchre have spent generations clashing over (and licensing over).

At the head of Mythos there is not a person, but instead a dynasty: the Vesalius line. For as long as anyone remembers, the same genome has ruled the guild in unbroken continuity through three living incarnations at once:

  • a child, the next in line that is tutored and raised within the guild;
  • an adult, the one in his prime, the CEO;
  • an elder, the aged incarnation who is an advisor to the adult.

When the elder dies, the adult ages into his place, the child into the adult’s, and a fresh child is descended from the genome. One person, one will, governing across almost two centuries.
